DAY 1 Where to Watch Birds Around Entebbe and Kampala Uganda: Uganda Wildlife Education Centre Birding Tour

The birding tour starts in the morning and by the end of the day, you should have seen a big number of the 170 species of wild birds living in the Uganda Wildlife Education center. Here, expect to see the Common Ostrich, Peacock, Olive-bellied Sunbird, White-chinned Prinia, Grey-capped Warbler, Grey Parrot, Palm-nut Vulture (Vulturine Fish Eagle), Common-ringed Plover, Great Reed Warbler, Klaas’s Cuckoo, Northern Crombec, Tambourine Dove, Cameroon Sombre Greenbul, Little Grey Greenbul, Grey Woodpecker, Northern Puffback, Scarlet-chested Sunbird, Common Bulbul, Double-toothed Barbet, The Speckled, Yellow-fronted and Yellow-rumped Tinkerbirds, Eastern Grey Plantain-Eater, Orange Weaver, Long-tailed Cormorant, Black-headed Weaver, Grosbeak Weaver, Black-headed Gonolek, White-throated Greenbul, several species of Kingfishers including the Woodland, Giant, Pied, and Stripped Kingfishers, Snowy-headed Robin-chat, White-browed Robin-chat, a number of Egret Species like the Littleand the Cattle, Red-chested Sunbird, Red-billed Firefinch, African Firefinch, the Bronze and Black-and-White Mannikins, Pied Crow, Grey-backed Camaroptera, Tawny-flanked Prinia, Olivaceous Warbler, Little Weaver, Slender-billed Weaver, Egyptian Goose, Hamarkop, Grey-crowned Crane, the Red-eyed and Ring-necked Doves and many more. Wake up early, have breakfast and expect hot lunch to be brought for you in the field as you lead Lutembe Ramseur Site for your birding experience. Among the birds one must hope to see include; The Purple Starling, House Sparrow, Brown Twinspot, Fawn-breasted Waxbill, Black-necked Weaver, Holub’s Golden Weaver, Speckle-breasted, Grey and Nubian Woodpeckers, Africa-Pygmy Kingfisher, Scaly Francolin, Black Kite, Grey-backed Fiscal, Black-headed Gonolek, Black-crowned Waxbill, Barn Swallow, Helmeted Guineafowl, Wire-tailed Swallow, Brimstone and the Yellow-fronted Canaries, Little Ringed Plover, Collared Pratincole, Splendid Sterling, Blue-spotted Wood-dove, Pin-tailed Whydah, Yellow-browed Camaroptera, Common Waxbill, Marico Sunbird, Tree Pipit, Grosbeak Weaver, Blue-breasted Bee-eater, Cape Wagtail, Africa Wattled Lapwing, Senegal Lapwing, Yellow-throated Longclaw, White-headed Saw-wing, Broad-billed Roller, White-browed and the Brown-backed Scrub-robins, Whiskered Tern, Lead-coloured Flycatcher, African Green Pigeon, Sooty Chat, Plain-backed Pipit, Tropical Boubou, just to mention but a few.

DAY 3 Where to Watch Birds Around Entebbe and Kampala Uganda: Mabamba Wetlands Uganda Birding Tour

After breakfast, your birding experience to the Mabamba Swamps will start. Birding here is done canoeing on a big scale. A variety of species to be seen may include; The rare Shoebill, White-faced Whistling-duck, Fulvous Whistling-Duck, Goliath Heron, Purple Heron, Common Squacco Heron, Long-toed Plover, African water Rail, Grey and Black Headed Herons, Striated Heron, Pygmy Goose, Yellow Billed Duck, Black Crake, Swamp Moorhen, Allen’s Gallinule, African Jacana, and many more. You could also see the Sitatunga, a swamp antelope and much more of wildlife.

DAY 4 Where to Watch Birds Around Entebbe and Kampala Uganda: Birding Uganda Safari Mabamba Bay

Early in the morning, we have breakfast and packed lunch, we set out for the Mabamba area to bird around for the various species of woodland and garden birds. TheHouse Sparrow which is Vagrant, Mosque Swallow (monteiri race), Weyn’s Weaver, White Shouldered Tit, Little Swift, Sand Martin, Brown Snake-Eagle, Eurasian Hobby, Grosbeak Weaver, Blue-headed Coucal, Fork-tailed Drongo, Feral Pigeon, Flappet and Rofus-napped Lark Lark, Long-Crested Eagle, Stripped Kingfisher, Common Stonechat, Common Greenshank, Little bee-eater, Whinchat, Grey Wagtail, Great Blue Turaco, Grassland Pipit, Orange Weaver, Northern Brown-throated Weaver, Tawny-flanked Prinia, Black-headed weaver, Slender-billed Weaver, Yellow-backed Weaver, Black Headed Gonolek, Ruppell’s Long-tailed Sterling, Grey-Headed Sparrow, Spur-winged Lapwing, Yellow Wagtail, African Pied Wagtail, Pied King Fisher, Grey-headed Kingfisher, Yellow Billed Stork, Olivaceous Warbler, Tawny Eagle, Carruther’s Cisticola, Ross’s Turaco, Fan-tailed Widowbird, Ashy Flycatcher, Rufous-napped Lark, Yellow-throated Greenbul, Common Squacco Heron, White-faced Whistling-duck, Fulvous Whistling-duck, Goliath Heron, Slender-billed Gull, Spur-winged Goose, Long-toed Lapwing, African Marsh Harrier, White-browed Coucal, Violet-backed Sterling, Red-chested Cuckoo, Klass’s Cuckoo, Diedrick Cuckoo, White-browed and the Senagal Coucals, Yello-rumped Tinkerbird, Yellow white-eye, common and black-capped Waxbills and over a hundred other bird species are a must see for a hard core or lucky birder.

DAY 5 Where to Watch Birds Around Entebbe and Kampala Uganda: Mabira Forest Reserve Uganda Birding Safari

Early in the morning, we start our search for the Nahan’s Francolin which is an IUCN Red list’ endangered species, Lead-coloured flycatcher, Buff-spotted Woodpecker, Yellow-crested Woodpecker, Fire-crested and Brown-chested Alethes, Forest Robin, Red-caped Robin-chat, Black-shouldered Nightjar, Wood Warbler, White-throated Greenbul, Little Greenbul, white-spotted Flufftail, Red-headed Malimbe, Scaly-breasted Illadopsis, Yellow-billed Barbet, Yellow-spotted Barbet, Grey-throated Barbet, Hairy-breasted Barbet, Yellow-rumped Tinkerbird, Speckled Tinkerbird, Yellow-throated Tinkerbird, Blue-breasted Kingfisher, African Pygmy Kingfisher, Shining-blue Kingfisher, Tit Hylia, the White-shouldered and Dusky Tit, Black-bellied Seedcracker, Magpie Mannikin, Green Hylia, Yellow-whiskered Greenbul, Red-tailed Greenbul, White-spotted Flufftail, African Dusky Flycatcher, the Red-tailed, Green-tailed Bristlebills, and so on live here and are waiting to be watched by your eyes.
