Moses Kandie
The simplest way to define Moses is; a national treasure. He was born around Lake Baringo, one of Kenya’s most famed birding destinations and the country’s source of the finest birding guides. A curious and sharp young boy found passion in tracking Owls, Nightjars and the skittish Coursers for day-visiting ornithologists around Baringo. When you are guided to easily find roosting owls amidst thorny scrubs invested by cactus in a typical arid Africa and find them, that is the right feeling of an Owl in the day, equating to three birds.
After brushing shoulders with birders from around the globe at thirteen, Moses’s passion soared, and he slowly raised an unquenchable thirst for birds and their lifestyle. He later pursued a degree in education, so I will not tell you that you travel in the company of a professional teacher sharing his birds’ expertise with you. Today, Moses spreads his passion to the community through innovations like Baringo Birding Club. He sees younger boys and girls from the community embrace birding and conservation and leads Avian Safaris tours across his vast country. Moses has chaired Lake Baringo Biodiversity Conservation Group, which continues to support conservation efforts in Baringo and its environs.
